Experience
The firm’s partners, Chuck Alpern and Rich Schubert are experienced trial lawyers. Chuck has been in active trial practice for 38 years. Rich has been trying cases for 28 years. Both have experience in trying various kinds of cases including medical negligence cases, cases involving defective products, automobile accident cases, cases involving industrial accidents, slip and fall cases, aviation cases, railroad cases, cases involving defectively designed roads, and virtually any kind of case involving injuries to their clients.

Both partners try cases every year, day in and day out and are not afraid to take on wealthy corporations and big insurance companies if they fail to live up to their responsibility to compensate injured victims—our clients—fully, fairly and adequately. Although the thought of going to court is often frightening to many injured people, the experience of our partners is helpful in avoiding litigation in many cases because the big corporations and insurance companies know that we are not afraid of going to court to fight for our clients. The simple fact is: when defendants or their insurers know that they are facing lawyers who will go to court, they often back down and settle the cases before trial.

Qualifications
When it comes to qualifications, our partners rank with the best trial lawyers in the City, County, State and nation. Locally, Chuck and Rich are members of the prestigious Academy of Trial Lawyers of Allegheny County. This organization is limited to 250 trial lawyers whose principal offices are located in Allegheny County. Admission is by invitation and election only. Members of the Academy are evaluated by their peers—other trial lawyers—and must receive recommendations from their peers and judges in order to be accepted. Rich has served on the Academy’s Board of Governors, and both Chuck and Rich have served on numerous Academy committees.

Chuck and Rich have been recognized by Philadelphia Magazine as Pennsylvania Super Lawyers and Pittsburgh Magazine as Top Lawyers in Pittsburgh for several years. Both have been recognized in the publication, Best Lawyers in America. All of these honors are evidence of the quality of trial representation provided by these lawyers.

Integrity

That is why they are most proud of their rating by Martindale-Hubbell, a legal directory and nationwide encyclopedic publication that has been in circulation for over a century, as “AV lawyers.” This is the highest rating for legal ability and professional ethics in practice. It is a rating based on polling of other legal professionals, their peers, and speaks to the high standards to which Chuck and Rich ascribe. Chuck and Rich have consistently been AV rated for most of their practice.
